You can display Russian text in the English version of Meyer 2008
by following the instructions on this page.
Note: You must have Administrative Privileges to
make the changes described below.
The first step is to enable Russian language support in Windows.
Microsoft has published step-by-step instructions for doing this under Knowledge Base Article
177561.
Once Russian language support is installed, you must switch the system
language for non-Unicode programs to Russian. Since Meyer 2008 is not
Unicode-enabled, you cannot use it with Russian text until you follow these
steps.
Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
- On the Start Menu, click Control
Panel.
- In the Control Panel, pick the Date,
Time, Language, and Regional Options category. (If your Control Panel
is set to Classic View,
you can skip this step.)
- Pick the Regional
and Language Options Control Panel icon.
- Select the “Advanced” tab at the top of the page. ("Administrative"
tab in Windows Vista)
- Under “Language for non-Unicode programs,” select
Russian and click OK. (You can ignore the other settings on this
page.)
- Windows may prompt you to skip file
copying.
- Reboot.
Windows 2000
- On the Start Menu, click Control
Panel.
- Pick the Regional
Options Control Panel icon.
- Select the “General” tab at the top of the page.
- Under “Language settings for the system,” click the “Set
default” button.
- Select
Russian and click OK twice.
- Windows may prompt you to skip file
copying.
- Reboot.
After rebooting, you should be able to enter Russian text into English
Meyer 2008. If you have trouble after following this procedure, please
contact our technical support.
